매년 보호국 사람들은 숲에 사는 마녀에게 아이를 바칩니다. 그들은 아기의 희생으로 마을이 안전하게 지켜질 거라고 믿기 때문이에요. 그러나 숲에 사는 크산은 친절한 마녀랍니다. 몬스터나 용들과 기꺼이 집을 공유 하거든요. 마녀는 아이들을 구해주고 숲 반대편의 친절한 가족에게 데려다 줍니다. 여정에서 아기들은 모유 대신 별빛을 마신답니다.
